Setting up a personal BitTorrent Sync to use WiFi
Update 2014-03-06
  1. The needed equipment, there are many options but the provided links are what I used.
    1. Edimax EW-7811Un USB WiFi Adapter ($10)
    2. Newer versions of Raspbian have built in support test with
      lsusb
      You should see something with "Edimax Technology Co., Ltd EW-7811Un"
    3. Next test if driver is running
      lsmod
      You should see something with "8192cu" kernel module loaded
    4. Then look to see wireless conections running.
      iwconfig
      You are hoping to find a "wlan0" conection listed.
    5. Set your WiFi settings
      sudo nano /etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf
      Edit to include your WiFi SID and password.
      network={
      ssid="YourSID"
      proto=RSN
      key_mgmt=WPA-PSK
      pairwise=CCMP TKIP
      group=CCMP TKIP
      psk="YourPassword""
      }
    6. Open the network config file
      sudo nano /etc/network/interfaces
      Add or change the lines to look lie those below.
      auto wlan0
      allow-hotplug wlan0
      iface wlan0 inet manual
      wpa-roam /etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf
    7. network={ ssid="YourSID" #psk="YourPassword," psk=10c7958f7bd66899532563b3a98f49b69f8f7aa4bb8b8dc45ae63b668502e24d }
